About the Role

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Medical Radiographer is a valuable member of our team, providing clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

This position may require coverage in the following areas as needed: PET/CT & PET/MRI Imaging Center, General Nuclear Medicine in the Hospital, and Cardiology in the Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Produces diagnostic exams, positions and transfers patients, provides immobilization devices, and selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
  • Selects and operates equipment, ensuring protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Assists physicians in administering opaque media and delegates areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures.
  • May be responsible for specific areas of instruction in the school of technology and for ancillary personnel.
  • In the absence of the supervisor or senior technologist, may serve as acting supervisor.
  • Assists in performing first aid as necessary, practices sterile techniques, and prevents cross-contamination.
  • May conduct periodic quality control tests and participate or conduct research in the required specialty.
  • Teaches radiology students or appropriate hospital personnel established procedures and operation of equipment, in accordance with department guidelines and teaching objectives.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Licensed by the NYS DOH in Nuclear Medicine Radiology Technology.
  • BLS Certification.
  • NMTCB and/or ARRT Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nuclear Medicine and Hospital Experience.
  • NMTCB and/or ARRT CAT Scan Certification.

Special Notes

This position may be designated as "essential," requiring employees to remain at their work location or report to work during institutional emergencies to protect, recover, and continue operations.

Prior to the start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
  • Complete an electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen.
  • Meet regulatory requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.

Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas.

Pay

The starting salary for this position is $67.63 per hour.
