Medical Radiation Physicist
Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Physicist (Ph.D. or M.S.) to support the Paris Market in Northeast Texas. The role is primarily based at the Texas Oncology Paris Cancer Center, a community-based facility treating approximately 40 patients daily. The center has active PSI and HDR programs, performing over 300 HDR treatments annually. The radiation therapy team includes one Radiation Oncologist, one Chief Medical Physicist, two site Medical Physicists (shared regionally), two Dosimetrists, three Radiation Therapists, and one CT Technologist. Periodic travel to nearby Texas Oncology centers in Mt. Pleasant and Greenville is required for staff coverage.
Select roles at Texas Oncology may be eligible for the Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP), an incentive program vesting over three years, tied to individual performance and operational success. Awards are discretionary, based on position, performance, and potential, and are reviewed annually.
Responsibilities
- Periodically evaluate all equipment for utility, performance, age, and condition to recommend lifespan, obsolescence, and replacement needs.
- Contribute to designing and implementing the quality management program, including reviewing and proposing changes to radiation therapy procedures.
- Assist in managing radiation oncology information systems, including protocol development, maintenance, and data storage.
- Perform radiation safety duties, including employee monitoring, regulatory reporting, and compliance.
- Lead or participate in clinical projects to improve department processes or patient treatments.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited institution.
- ABR certification or completion of a CAMPEP-approved residency with board eligibility.
- Clinical experience in a medical physics environment.
- Texas Medical Board license (or eligibility to obtain one).
