Job Summary

This role evaluates donors' eligibility for automated plasmapheresis procedures and administers and supervises approved immunizations in accordance with state regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The position also provides limited emergency care as permitted by licensure or certification, training, and SOPs. Compliance with SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and regulatory guidelines is essential.

About the Role

The role involves evaluating donor eligibility through medical history reviews, physical assessments, and informed consent discussions. It requires reviewing, documenting, and verifying donor information, immunization records, and test results in the donor management system (NexLynk). The position also involves classifying donors into appropriate programs, monitoring for adverse reactions, and consulting with the center's licensed physician on abnormal results, donor eligibility concerns, and immunization orders. It entails counseling deferred donors, ensuring confidentiality, and referring donors to health departments when necessary. Accurate documentation, such as Physician Communication Logs and donor eligibility assessments, is maintained. Training as a Donor Center Technician I and serving as a QA Backup are responsibilities, along with mentoring and training new medical professionals as a designated trainer to support workforce development. Ensuring center compliance with SOPs, quality systems, and regulatory requirements is also part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate donor eligibility through medical history reviews, physical assessments, and informed consent discussions in accordance with SOPs, FDA, CLIA, and cGMP.
  • Review, document, and verify donor information, immunization records, and test results in the donor management system (NexLynk).
  • Classify donors into appropriate programs and monitor for adverse reactions, providing care as allowed by training and licensure.
  • Counsel deferred donors, ensure confidentiality, and refer donors to health departments when needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation such as Physician Communication Logs and donor eligibility assessments.
  • Train as a Donor Center Technician I and serve as a QA Backup when needed.
  • Mentor and train new Medical Professionals as a Designated Trainer to support workforce development.
  • Support center compliance with SOPs, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure an efficient, donor-focused environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Physician, LPN, or RN: Graduate of a recognized healthcare-related program.
  • EMT Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced/Paramedic: Certification or license as an emergency medical technician, if allowable.
  • One (1) year of experience in hospital, field care, or plasma center settings preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motor tasks such as drawing blood.
  • Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
  • Ability to reach, bend, and stoop as necessary.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
  • Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
  • Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
  • Ability to view monitors less than 18” from face for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in environments as cold as -40°C and handle dry ice occasionally.
  • Ability to perform CPR and respond immediately to donor adverse reactions.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of all operational areas within the plasma center.

Please note this wage range reflects what Octapharma Plasma expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base pay for a successful candidate within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
