Medical Planner
About the role
This role involves understanding and executing all aspects of the design process, contributing to team success, and providing medical architecture expertise.
Responsibilities
- Understands and executes the design process and project complexities.
- Provides master planning, design, and related medical architecture expertise.
- Collaborates with members of the healthcare group to design projects meeting firm and client goals.
- Aids clients in determining goals and objectives of healthcare facilities through a clear programming process.
- Assists in the production of architectural programs for clients.
- Participates on the project team to achieve goals and objectives, communicating with team members promptly.
- Contributes to marketing proposals and interviews.
- Develops alternate design solutions based on client's long-term plans during the master planning and design phases.
- Supports the team during the schematic design phase.
- Creates room and departmental layouts and assists in selecting building systems.
- Ensures program requirements are included during the construction document phase.
- Assists in evaluating existing facilities.
- Collects and analyzes data through interviews, focus groups, surveys, observations, and post-occupancy evaluations.
- Reviews work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the Project Delivery Manual.
- Participates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
- Mentors staff and coordinates effectively with partners and consultants.
Requirements
Requires a professional degree in architecture or a related field, or 25 years of experience in the design profession. Professional architectural license or LEED GA certification within six months of hire is preferred.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of 2D/3D production software.
- Experience with conceptual modeling tools like Rhino and Grasshopper.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Experience with life safety requirements, construction contract administration, and construction techniques.
- Knowledge of LEAN concepts or accredited certifications relevant to living design.
- Licensure or certification in areas such as LEED AP, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, or Passive House Consultant/Designer.
