The Phoenix Cyberknife & Arizona Radiation Oncology group is seeking an experienced clinical medical physicist to join a team of 4 other physicists and 4-5 dosimetrists across 4 clinics in the Phoenix metro area.

About the role

Current clinical equipment includes two Varian TrueBeam linacs, two Varian Gamma Med plus iX HDR afterloaders, one Accuray Cyberknife VSI machine, one Accuray HAD Tomotherapy unit, and VisonRT. A new center opening at the end of this year will feature a Varian Ethos with adaptive planning, a Bravos HDR unit, in-house PET/CT, and a theranostics program. Treatment planning is performed with Varian Eclipse and Accuray Precision, and all sites use cloud-based ARIA for record and verify.

The physicist will ensure the safe and effective use of radiation, oversee scientific and technical aspects of procedures, and collaborate with staff. Responsibilities include quality control tests based on AAPM and industry standards, treatment planning review, weekly chart review, radiation safety measures, and implementation of new technology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control tests based on AAPM and industry standards

  • Participate in radiation safety measures
  • Assist in the implementation of new technology and equipment
  • Collaborate and communicate with other staff members
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve clinical issues and discrepancies

Requirements

  • Board Certification or Board eligibility by the American Board of Radiology, or equivalent
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Medical Physics or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in radiation oncology physics (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Varian and Accuray products (desirable)
  • Experience in adaptive planning and theranostics (beneficial)
  • Proficiency in radiation physics, dosimetry, and operation of radiation oncology equipment
  • Stereotactic and HDR planning experience (a plus)
