Medical Physicist (per diem)

Position Summary

A Medical Physicist at Stony Brook Medicine provides clinical services to the patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills, while adhering to high standards of excellence.

Duties

• Calibration and maintenance of Radiation Oncology equipment.
• Perform machine acceptance tests and commissioning.
• Perform patient treatment planning.
• Perform brachytherapy procedures.
• Develop and implement new Radiation Therapy procedures, techniques, and instrumentation.
• Conduct education activities.

Qualifications

• CAMPEP Approved MS or PhD degree in Medical Physics.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Clinical Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology.
• Excellent oral and communication skills.
• Must have passed Part One of the American Board of Radiology (ABR).

Preferred Qualifications

• Passed Part Two of the ABR with NYS License.
• Experience with Varian technology.
• SBRT/SRS planning and IGRT background.
