Medical Phone Operator

Regional Orthopaedic Associates is seeking a professional and customer-focused Phone Operator to join our team in Wilmington, DE. This role is responsible for answering incoming calls, scheduling patient appointments, and directing inquiries to the appropriate members of our physician teams.

Responsibilities

• Answer multi-line phones promptly and courteously.
• Triage incoming calls to determine appropriate routing or action.
• Schedule appointments for new and existing patients, accurately entering and verifying all demographic and insurance information.
• Transfer calls to appropriate physicians or team members as needed.
• Review and manage appointment schedules and assist patients with referral-related concerns.
• Provide exceptional service by addressing caller questions and concerns professionally.
• Maintain flexibility with scheduling and be willing to adjust hours as needed.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Working knowledge of standard office equipment, including multi-line phone systems, fax machines, and copiers.
• Accurate typing and familiarity with email/calendar systems.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team setting.
• Must consistently check and respond to email communications in a timely manner.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is helpful but not required.
