Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of insurance prior authorizations for medications, diagnostic imaging, and in-clinic procedures related to complex gynecologic conditions
  • Serve as a liaison between insurance payers, providers, clinical staff, and ancillary departments to ensure timely authorization approvals, minimize treatment delays, and support optimal patient care
  • Manage appeals, peer-to-peer reviews, and retroactive authorizations
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls appropriately
  • Welcome patients; update, verify, and enter patient demographics, insurance, and billing information and process forms into appropriate systems
  • Register patients for services, ensure accuracy, facilitate timely discharge, and maximize reimbursement
  • Ensure all financial assessments, eligibility, and benefits memos are clear, updated, and thorough to support post-care financial needs
  • Maintain a working relationship with clinical partners to ensure open communication between clinical, ancillary, and patient access departments, enhancing patient experiences
  • Provide timely and continual coverage of assigned work area to offer prompt patient service and availability for all clinical partners’ registration needs
  • Perform specialty services and duties as requested to ensure the smooth operation of the Guest Services departments
  • Promote a safe work environment
  • Communicate patients’ status to appropriate team members and keep patients apprised to maintain effective operational flow
  • Provide education to patients regarding test locations, patient portal use, and follow-up (non-clinical) actions
  • Request co-pays and/or outstanding balance at the time of check-in respectfully but firmly
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate and/or higher-level education or completed coursework in health services administration or other related medical or business field
  • High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Associate's Degree in Health Services Administration or other related medical or business field (Preferred)
  • 1+ years of customer service and medical office or equivalent experience with medical terminology, coding, charge entry, and payment collection (Required)
  • Prior collections experience (Preferred)
  • Prior Authorization experience (Required)

Qualifications

  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) (Preferred)

Pay

$19.38 - $31.01 per hour
