Medical Office Receptionist

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and maintains a filing system for patient charts, including generating chart numbers, filing, and pulling charts
  • Answers telephone and either responds to inquiries, directs callers to appropriate personnel, or initiates a triage slip for response by medical personnel
  • Schedules appointments and enters appointment dates and times into computerized scheduler
  • Calls patients to conduct reminder calls
  • Greets and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors
  • Registers patients by verifying that patient records are up to date and accurate, making appropriate changes in the computer system and on the patient’s chart
  • Collaborates with insurance and other physician offices or specialists to coordinate referrals for patients
  • Prepares all billings in the computerized system for processing by finance
  • Collects payment from patients and reconciles daily cash reports
  • Finds ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Identifies and solves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully, developing alternate solutions
  • Displays exceptional interpersonal skills; listens effectively while remaining open to other ideas and trying new things
  • Conducts self with professionalism and in a tactful manner, treating others with respect and consideration
  • Follows through on commitments
  • Displays strong customer service orientation, responding quickly and appropriately to customer needs, and managing difficult or emotional situations

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • One year certificate from college or technical school with a concentration in front office support for medical settings preferred
  • At least three years of experience in a front desk/customer service-related field required
  • Experience in a medical office preferred

Pay

The annual compensation range for this position is $16.80 - $21.00 per hour. A number of factors will influence the rate offered for this position, including your experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors.

Schedule

Scheduled hours are 4x10 shifts of 8am-7pm Monday-Thursday. Enjoy long weekends!
