QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a dedicated and qualified candidate to support a government healthcare contract at Barksdale Medical Group, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana within a front desk clinical setting in a Department of Defense (DoD) medical treatment facility.
About the role
The selected candidate will perform critical front desk and administrative functions in a medical office environment. No telework is allowed.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients/visitors at a clinic front desk and check in patients for encounters.
- Answer the main office phone line.
- Schedule medical appointments and determine patient eligibility for services.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties in support of medical care and operational support.
- Conduct end-of-day processes at close of business and resolve delinquent or pending appointments in the computer system.
- Contact patients to schedule, reschedule, and/or cancel appointments, including consult/referral specialty care.
- Use multiple office automation software to produce a wide range of documents and provide miscellaneous clerical support.
- Maintain professional medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Prepare and edit written correspondence, reports, and transcribed material with correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format.
- Perform receptionist duties, answer telephones, and use standard office equipment (computers, copiers, fax machines, etc.).
- Perform medical record maintenance support with knowledge of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of clerical experience in a medical setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fully qualified typist with a minimum typing speed of 50 WPM.
- U.S. Citizenship (required for contract work).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (in-person certification required; online classes are not acceptable).
- Ability to pass a government-required security investigation and provide required documentation in a timely manner.
- Ability to obtain documentation of required physical testing or a report of a physical examination.
- Tuberculosis (TB) screening and compliance with health requirements, including immunizations, annual vaccinations, and pre-employment drug screening.
Skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, both oral and written.
- Proficiency in using standard office equipment and office automation systems.
- General knowledge of JCAHO standards.
- Ability to maintain professional appearance and personal hygiene in accordance with workplace policies.
- Ability to handle long periods of sedentary work involving intense concentration and repetitive manual tasks.
- Capability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, between 0700 and 1700 Central Standard Time (CST).
- Shifts are normally scheduled for a nine-hour period, including an uncompensated 60-minute lunch break.
- No more than 40 hours per week.
