About the role
The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for assisting in the direct delivery of primary health care support and patient care management under the direction and supervision of the Physician. Duties include assisting the physician in the implementation of nursing care as directed, all aspects of the medical office, and may include responsibilities in the front office and clinical areas. This position has full access to patient health information.
The MOA FLOAT will travel between all of the Iredell Physician Network clinics based on a schedule.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PRN)
Responsibilities
- Assist the physician in implementing nursing care as directed
- Perform duties in both front office and clinical areas
- Handle scheduling, payments, billing/coding, and medical records
- Operate and maintain medical office equipment
- Perform venipuncture accurately (preferred)
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Working knowledge of medical practice and medical care, including examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures; equipment and instruments; safety hazards, and precautions
- Clerical experience, including scheduling, billing/coding, and medical records
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of business software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, pay close attention to details, and provide excellent customer service
- Current CPR certification or willingness to complete within 30 days of hire
Physical Demands
- Possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position, including walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, and sitting for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
