Main Function
The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) participates in the multi-disciplinary process of providing care and service to patients and their families via selected clinical tasks. Clinical tasks will be performed within the scope of practice consistent with NYS Education Department rules and regulations. These Tasks Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Supplies inventory, stocking and ordering
- Rooming patients
- Taking vitals
- Performing phlebotomy and EKGs
- Specimen collection
- Medical record documentation
- Chart preparations
- Point of care testing (POCT)
- Otherwise assisting providers with exams and minor surgical procedures.
Required Job Specific Competencies
- Develops and maintains a collaborative working relationship with patients, families, coworkers and medical staff, management and other health system departments.
- Demonstrates the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of those patients served in a primary or specialty care office setting.
- Exhibits time management, keyboarding, and multi-tasking skills to assure business components of the practice are maintained at an efficient and effective level.
- Ensures all Hospital, State, Federal and other regulatory requirements are met as per his/her job function.
- Remains current with certification requirements if certified.
- Is flexible and willing to travel to other practices upon management request.
- Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Has attention to detail to avoid mistakes.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS certification required.
- Graduate of an approved program for certification of Medical Office Assistants preferred.
- Phlebotomy skills preferred or willingness to attain once employed.
- MOA experience preferred.
- EMR experience preferred.
- CMOA certification preferred.

Pay Range
$19.64 - $24.50, based on experience.
