Major Job Responsibilities

  • Takes all incoming phone calls and transfers them as needed.
  • Takes prescription messages, identifies and verifies information needed to schedule appointment requests, assists with follow-up appointments or referrals.
  • Aids in preparing patient information for appointments, including labs, hospital reports, and referrals notes. Assists in maintaining electronic medical records (EMR) and scanning documents as required.
  • Verifies insurance information for patients, informs them of co-payments, deposits, and referrals/authorizations needed at the time of appointment.
  • Updates physician templates to include opening, closing, and rescheduling patient appointments.
  • Works to enhance the patient and family experience, takes initiative in problem-solving, maintains confidentiality, and interacts courteously and respectfully with patients, co-workers, and management.
  • Completes all miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates quality work, completes assignments on time, and makes decisions within limits of authority while adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains time and attendance standards consistent with company policy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of medical or receptionist experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with basic office equipment and personal computers highly desirable.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong telephone skills.
  • Possesses a positive 'can-do' attitude.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a medical office or healthcare administration.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
