Responsibilities
- Prepare for patient examinations and clinical procedures including acquiring vital signs and EKGs.
- Provide support functions such as scheduling, registration, and receptionist services for the Cardiology Clinic.
- Answer telephones.
- Compile statistics.
- Compose letters and memorandums.
- Establish filing systems.
- Maintain filing systems.
- Maintain logs.
- Proofread documents.
- Research information.
- Schedule appointments.
- Perform EKGs for providers to interpret.
- Obtain, communicate, and record vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, and weight) in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Handle emergency or crisis situations as needed.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree as a Medical Assistant, or completed an equivalent training program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Credential as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
- One (1) year secretarial/receptionist experience in a hospital, primary care clinic, or physician's office.
- Two (2) years of experience in a medical office setting as a Medical Office Assistant preferred.
- Knowledge of basic patient care and medical office practice and procedures.
- Knowledge of computer equipment, diagnostic equipment, fax, and personal computer operations.
