Major Job Responsibilities

  • Takes all incoming phone calls and transfers them as needed.
  • Takes prescription messages, identifies and verifies information needed to schedule appointment requests, assists with follow-up appointments or referrals.
  • Aids in preparing patient information for appointments, including labs, hospital reports, and referrals notes. Assists in maintaining electronic medical records (EMR) and scanning documents as required. Completes office forms and documents.
  • Verifies insurance information for patients, informs them of co-payments, deposits, and referrals/authorizations needed at the time of appointment.
  • Updates physician templates to include opening, closing, and rescheduling patient appointments.
  • Works to enhance the patient and family experience, takes initiative in problem-solving, maintains confidentiality, and interacts courteously with patients, coworkers, and management.
  • Completes other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates quality work, completes assignments on time, and makes decisions within limits of authority. Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains time and attendance standards consistent with company policy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of medical, receptionist experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with basic office equipment and personal computers highly desirable.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong telephone skills.
  • Maintains a positive 'can-do' attitude.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a medical office or healthcare administration.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
