We are seeking a Medical Malpractice/Nursing Home Defense Attorney to join our leading regional defense team in the White Plains or New York City office. This position offers a flexible, hybrid working arrangement.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated attorney to defend nursing home negligence claims and healthcare provider litigation. This is an excellent opportunity for professional advancement with a large, national firm.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a caseload involving the defense of nursing home negligence claims
  • Lead all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances (trial experience is a plus)
  • Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, detailed reporting, and proactive, solution-oriented counsel
  • Draft and review complex legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and settlement agreements
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, team members, and partners on strategic legal projects, fostering strong teamwork and knowledge-sharing
  • Travel to client sites throughout Westchester, NYC, and surrounding areas as necessary

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice in New York
  • 5+ years of defense litigation experience, with a strong focus on medical malpractice and nursing home negligence matters
  • Demonstrated experience taking and defending depositions, including expert depositions, on behalf of nursing home and long-term care clients
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex cases and drive them toward resolution
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to present sophisticated legal arguments clearly and persuasively
  • Trial experience is a plus
  • Understanding of state and federal regulations
