About the role

A well-established and growing litigation firm is seeking a Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney to join its Atlanta office. This role offers immediate exposure to complex, high-stakes healthcare litigation and the opportunity to manage cases from inception through resolution in a collaborative, trial-focused environment.

Job qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active Georgia Bar license (required)
• 7+ years of civil litigation experience (medical malpractice or insurance defense preferred)
• Experience with motion practice, depositions, and case management
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to independently manage files in a fast-paced litigation environment

Job Details

• Handle all phases of medical malpractice defense litigation, including case evaluation, strategy development, and trial preparation
• Manage an active caseload involving physicians, hospitals, and healthcare systems
• Draft and argue pleadings, motions, and discovery
• Take and defend fact and expert depositions, including medical experts
• Attend hearings, mediations, and trials across Georgia
• Analyze medical records and work with expert witnesses to develop defense strategies
• Communicate directly with clients, insurers, and healthcare professionals to provide case updates and risk assessments
• Collaborate with partners and litigation teams on high-exposure matters
