Responsibilities
- Fulfilling laboratory procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing, along with test analyses, reporting, and record maintenance.
- Complying with laboratory quality control policies.
- Recording all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance.
- Notifying Lab Supervisor if there are indicators affecting test performance or reporting.
- Managing laboratory stock ordering, receiving, and distribution as needed.
- Performing all duties associated with checklists and understanding all checklists.
- Adhering to safety policies as outlined by Patient First and OSHA.
- Providing courteous, friendly, and professional customer service.
- Fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Completing additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Keyboarding experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- One year of clerical experience preferred.
- One year of clinical experience preferred.
- A minimum of 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college, including courses in chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory techniques, or an Associate degree in a related field.
- Completion of clinical rotations in microbiology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology, or a fifty-week military Medical Laboratory Procedures course meeting the qualifications for the “Medical Laboratory Specialist” enlisted occupational specialty.
- A Registered Medical Technologist (M.T.) or Medical Laboratory Technician (M.L.T.) certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or another recognized certification agency for medical laboratory professionals is preferred.
