Medical Laboratory Technologist

Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture collections on pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Collects and labels the appropriate samples.
• Reviews and orders the tests on the physician requisition in the hospital LIS.
• Temporarily registers patients as needed.
• Performs appropriate tests efficiently and accurately, reports correctly through the LIS, and distributes the results to the designated medical personnel.
• Orders and ships specimens to reference laboratories.
• Completes, results through LIS, and distributes the reports.
• Maintains adequate records as directed.
• Supports and maintains adequate quality control procedures.
• Performs routine maintenance.
• Investigates and attempts to resolve technical problems.
• Completes competency testing as required by laboratory policy.
