About the role
The BPN Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
Responsibilities

- Performs routine laboratory tests according to laboratory standards, policies and procedures.
- Analyzes test results and enters data into the computer using laboratory standards, policies, and procedures.
- Performs and analyzes quality control measures to ensure accurate clinical data.
- Maintains competency and proficiency on all laboratory instrumentation and procedures; performs and documents preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment, troubleshooting problems as necessary.
- Communicates with coworkers, clients and leadership by transmitting appropriate ideas, information and opinions clearly and concisely; maintains employee, patient, client and corporate confidentiality.
- Performs general housekeeping tasks to maintain work area order; maintains adequate supplies in the work area.
- Participates in cross-training within laboratory divisions. Assists in training new employees and students.
- Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
- Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related laboratory science from a two-year accredited college or CLIA-approved Military MLT program required. American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification as an MLT (ASCP) or equivalency preferred.
