Medical Laboratory Technician - MUSCP

Responsible for

  • Performing diagnostic testing on patient samples
  • Aiding physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states
  • Following standardized procedures
  • Helping prepare samples for testing
  • Analyzing test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits

Physical Requirements

  • Continuous requirements to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting
  • Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders
  • Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors
  • Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs
  • Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces

Education & Experience

  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • No prior experience required

Certification

  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) or equivalent
  • If not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment

Additional Job Description

Develop, draft, revise SOPs, training documents, validation/verification plans, test cases, and validation/verification summaries.

Maintain excellent communication with the Department and other Laboratory Services personnel.
