Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) | PRN

Job Description

As a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician, you will:

• Perform routine, moderate, and high-complexity laboratory testing on blood and body fluid specimens
• Ensure accurate and reliable results through strict adherence to quality control protocols
• Conduct instrument function checks and preventative maintenance per department standards
• Maintain required records and statistical data in compliance with regulatory standards
• Absorb and assist in training new employees and students on laboratory procedures
• Collect chain-of-custody urine drug screens as required
• Work with minimal supervision while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and accuracy

Requirements

Must be available to work at least 12 hours bi-weekly and additional hours may be required based on departmental needs.

Schedule may vary (increase or decrease) depending on unit demands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field
• Equivalent combination of education and laboratory experience totaling at least 2 years
• MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required
• MLT (ASCP) certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
