Responsibilities
- Performs routine medical laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
- Arranges for pickup or delivery of specimens sent to reference labs or outside labs.
- Maintains records demonstrating proficiency testing samples are tested similarly to patient samples.
- Adheres to quality control policies and documents all activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
- Recognizes and addresses factors affecting measurements and results.
- Communicates test results, normal ranges, and specimen requirements to authorized sources.
- Demonstrates technical skills to students and new employees.
- Ensures test results are not reported until corrective actions are taken and the system is functioning correctly.
- Administers testing according to policies and procedures.
- Applies Total Quality Management (TQM) guidelines to laboratory processes.
- Follows company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.
- Works holiday shifts as required by company policy.
- May perform phlebotomy functions.
- Assists with assessment reviews if qualified.
- Performs high complexity testing under direct supervision if qualified.
- Schedules, timekeeps, and approves time off for lab staff if qualified.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT): Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or MLT with school laboratory training. ASCP or AMT certification preferred. Phlebotomy may be required. Qualified as Testing Personnel under CLIA.
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MT): Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field and completion of a clinical laboratory science or medical technology program from an accredited institution with one or more years of experience in clinical laboratory (can include school laboratory training). Or, bachelor’s degree in a science-related field with four or more years of experience in clinical laboratory. Certification eligible (ASCP or AMT). Phlebotomy may be required. Qualified as Testing Personnel under CLIA.

Work Schedule
Microbiology: Every other Saturday/Sunday 7:00AM-3:00PM + PRN
