Medical Laboratory Technician I (MLT) - Generalist

About the role

Performs clinical laboratory tests following standard operating policies and procedures. Understands method principles, performs quality control and calibrations, preventive maintenance, and analyzes results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.

Prepares patient specimens for laboratory testing, monitors test results to ensure quality and validity, and communicates results in a timely manner. Enters and retrieves data from laboratory computer systems, cleans and maintains laboratory equipment and environment, and demonstrates appropriate, caring behavior in the workplace.

Works alternate shifts as required and performs other duties as assigned, including phlebotomy.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or currently enrolled in an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science Program (BS) with completion of specific laboratory rotations (e.g., Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Transfusion Services)
• Equivalent laboratory training and/or work experience with the US military (2 years) will meet the education requirement

Qualifications

Preferred certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency.

Schedule

40 hours per week. Weekends: Friday - Sunday (7 pm - 7 am). May be required to work other shifts per operational demand needs.
