About the role

Mercy Health seeks Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) who are committed to enhancing the health and well-being of patients through exceptional patient care. This position requires a strong foundation in laboratory diagnostics, quality control, and technical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine, moderate, and highly complex laboratory diagnostic tests.
  • Confirms test results and provides data necessary for diagnosing and treating patients.
  • Fulfills quality control programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Aids in training new employees and students in lab procedures and equipment use.
  • Utilizes computer functions on Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
  • Engages in continuing education in relevant areas of expertise.

Requirements

  • MLT Certification or eligibility from a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP).
  • Completion of an accredited medical lab technician program.
  • At least two years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Medical Lab Technology or equivalent.
  • Completion of at least 60 semester hours including six hours of chemistry and six of biology.
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.

  • Neonates (0-4 weeks)
