About the role

The Medical Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in the clinical departments of the laboratory, supporting the mission to care for those who care for others. This position is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting, while also ensuring quality control and maintaining a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and facilitates good working relationships with superiors, physicians, staff members, and co-workers/peers.
  • Contributes in problem-solving activities intra-and inter-departmentally.
  • Demonstrates flexible staffing needs within the department.
  • Uses department resources (supplies, equipment) in a cost-effective manner.
  • Communicates effectively and in a timely manner to medical director, co-workers, and physicians through informal updates, written, and verbal communications.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work environment.
  • Produces accurate results with minimal clerical/data entry errors including omissions.
  • Ensures quality of results reported through quality control procedures.
  • Supports corporate compliance initiatives.
  • Projects competent, caring attitude to clients.
  • Maintains confidentiality relating to patients, specimens, and records.
  • Implements improvements as able or seeks help from coworkers and supervisor.
  • Affords assistance to coworkers, as needed, to meet workload priorities.

Requirements

Successful completion of a two-year post-high school program in Medical Laboratory Technology, resulting in an Associate degree. Successful completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program. Meets federal guidelines under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) for performing high-complexity testing. Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification is preferred, or proof of eligibility to sit for the certification examination within six (6) months of hire.

Pay

$29.20 – $43.80 per hour
