Medical Laboratory Technician

About the role

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people in rural, southwest Alaska. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. The position is based in Bethel.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests under the direction of the laboratory manager
• Conduct quality control procedures
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, and patients regarding laboratory results
• Provide direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field required
• Board eligibility by NCA or ASCP required, certification within one year of employment
• One to three years of related or progressively more responsible experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology, and microbiology or formal student internship
• Clinical laboratory instrumentation and laboratory generalist skills required
• Capable of working independently and providing direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants

Qualifications

• MT certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS certification by National Accrediting Agency (NCA) within one year of employment

Pay

• Minimum hourly pay: $37.01
