About the role

The Medical Laboratory Technician will perform routine phlebotomy procedures and process specimens according to established safety and quality policies. They are responsible for transcribing laboratory orders into the EMR and performing laboratory tests as directed by the manager.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine phlebotomy procedures according to established procedures and policies.
  • Collect, receive, identify, label, and process specimens following quality assurance and safety policies.
  • Transcribe laboratory orders into the BCDI electronic medical record (EMR) and referral laboratories’ requisitions/software.
  • Perform laboratory tests and quality control as directed by the Laboratory Manager.

Requirements

  • Associates degree.
  • MLT (ASCP or equivalent) certification, or acquired within first year of employment.
  • One-plus years laboratory experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy skills preferred; willingness to learn phlebotomy a must.
  • Experience performing clinical chemistry, hematology, immunoassay, hemostasis/coagulation, and specimen processing/send outs a plus.
  • Computer proficiency including EMR/LIS experience a must.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; BCDI is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Pay

Salary Range: $25.00 – $27.50 per hour, dependent upon skills and experience.

Schedule

Work week is Monday through Friday, no evenings or weekends.
