About the role
Medical Laboratory Technician/Radiographer performs x-rays, routine tests, quality control procedures and keeps supply inventory.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in the medical laboratory technology field from an accredited institution
- Certification by ASCP or another approved agency or eligible for certification
- Previous experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Performs all laboratory procedures using appropriate equipment and materials
- Performs and appropriately documents quality control procedures, instrument checks and maintenance reports
- Records workload and test results according to established lab protocol
- Verifies ancillary services provided and makes appropriate changes to the superbill
- Takes corrective action with proper documentation when controls are out of range or test results are abnormal
- Performs proficiency testing according to the schedule subscribed from the American Proficiency Institute
- Performs venipuncture/capillary sticks on adults and pediatric patients
- Performs other phlebotomy duties as necessary
- Processes samples according to test specific requirements
- Protects the confidentiality of patients and their records at all times by complying with the health center confidentiality policies
- Daily disinfection of work surfaces and equipment used in the department
