About the role

This role involves performing and reporting laboratory procedures to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The technician is responsible for specimen handling, test execution, quality control, equipment maintenance, and inventory management. Accurate patient identification and adherence to regulatory standards are essential. The position requires evaluating results, drawing conclusions, and completing assigned goals.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, identify, organize, and prioritize specimens for timely testing.
  • Perform and report laboratory procedures.
  • Conduct quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and inventory control.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification to prevent errors.
  • Assess specimens, evaluate results, and draw appropriate conclusions.
  • Follow regulatory and safety standards, maintaining competency.
  • Achieve assigned goals and perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or military medical laboratory training.
  • Preferred experience in clinical laboratories.
  • Basic computer skills required; advanced skills preferred.
  • National certification in accordance with federal/state regulations, obtained within six months of hire.
