Medical Laboratory Technician
About the role
The Medical Laboratory Technician will accurately analyze and report all tests ordered by the Medical Staff in a timely manner and according to laboratory procedures and regulatory guidelines to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional patient care by clinically correlating results, identifying biases, promptly reporting critical values, and completing all testing within established turn-around-time limits.
- Maintain optimal equipment functionality by performing essential maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and coordinating vendor support for major automated instruments.
- Ensure test accuracy and reliability through diligent execution of calibration and quality control procedures, meticulous record-keeping, and participation in assigned proficiency testing with leadership review.
- Contribute to laboratory advancement by assisting in the evaluation and documentation for validating new procedures and equipment to provide cutting-edge technology.
- Foster continuous professional development through active participation in continuing education, teaching, and training opportunities to enhance personal and team technical skills.
- Manage laboratory resources efficiently by overseeing supply inventory, monitoring stock, placing orders, and ensuring proper storage, while completing all tasks and transitioning ongoing issues effectively during your shift.
Requirements
- Associates of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA - required upon hire or;
- High School GED - upon hire and completed an official military medical laboratory course and held the military enlisted occupational speciality of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Lab Technician) or;
- High School Graduate - upon hire and completed an official military medical laboratory course and held the military enlisted occupational speciality of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Lab Technician).
Preferred
- Medical Laboratory Technician AMT (MLT-AMT) - upon hire preferred or;
- Medical Laboratory Technician ASCP (MLT) - upon hire preferred or;
- Medical Lab Tech AAB (MLTECH) - upon hire preferred
