About the role

The Special Chemistry Laboratory at MD Anderson Cancer Center performs highly specialized laboratory testing that supports the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients with complex oncologic and other medical conditions. Utilizing advanced instrumentation and methodologies, the laboratory provides critical diagnostic information that helps physicians make informed clinical decisions while maintaining the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and verify complex testing
  • Maintain quality control data
  • Monitor and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
  • Maintain laboratory equipment
  • Manage laboratory inventory
  • Analyze and report patient results accurately and timely
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Participate in the validation and implementation of new methodologies and testing platforms
  • Support process improvement initiatives
  • Follow standard operating procedures and adhere to regulatory mandates
  • Collaborate with fellow laboratory scientists, supervisors, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of students, new employees, and fellows

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology OR Bachelor's Degree in a related science field OR Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Clinical Laboratory Science/Molecular Genetic Technology accredited program
  • 2 years of clinical laboratory experience with an Associate's Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology OR 1 year of clinical laboratory experience with a Bachelor's Degree in a related science field

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is US Dollar (USD) 67,000 to US Dollar (USD) 100,000.

Schedule

The hours for this position are 7am - 3:30pm with rotating Sunday coverage.
