Medical Laboratory Scientist - Referrals Department

Role Overview The laboratory professional performs and reports clearly defined laboratory procedures to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities include specimen management, accurate test processing, quality control, instrument maintenance, and inventory oversight. They assess patient identification to minimize errors and support continuous learning and goal achievement. Additionally, they may instruct students and personnel as needed. Qualifications & Skills Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited programClinical laboratory experience preferredBasic computer literacy requiredNational certification in accordance with federal and/or state regulations is required; ASCP certification preferred Key Duties Prioritize and organize specimens for testingPerform and document laboratory proceduresConduct quality control, proficiency testing, and routine maintenanceEnsure positive patient identification to reduce errorsAnalyze results and draw conclusionsSupport ongoing education and training activities
