About the Role

This position supports the mission of HCA HealthONE Aurora and provides service at Centennial Medical Plaza and Saddle Rock ER. The Medical Technologist (MT) delivers technical quality testing for neonates, pediatrics, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, AABB, FDA, and CLIA Standards. The role functions within the philosophy, policies, and procedures of all HealthONE Aurora campuses and represents the hospital both internally and externally. A thorough understanding and application of MT practices is essential due to the critical nature of patient testing. Laboratory employees must continuously improve clinical testing through education. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical quality testing for a diverse patient population in the laboratory setting.
  • Integrate current scientific knowledge with technical competency related to laboratory instrumentation and test methodologies.
  • Maintain ongoing knowledge and responsibility for Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and Process Improvement.
  • Demonstrate competency in age-related laboratory values and communication skills.
  • Adhere to CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, AABB, FDA, and CLIA standards.

Requirements

  • ASCP, HEW, AMT, or equivalent certification required within six months of hire (ASCP preferred). Continued employment depends on valid certification.
  • Education: Either a bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science/medical technology from an accredited institution or an associate’s degree in laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in a hospital laboratory is desired but not required.
