Medical Laboratory Scientist -MLS - II (Dayshift)
Missouri Baptist Medical Center is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II to join its laboratory team as a Generalist in a collaborative hospital environment, performing a broad range of laboratory testing.

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children's Hospital.
Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a recognition achieved by less than nine percent of hospitals nationwide. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital #2 in the St. Louis metro area.
Schedule
- Full-time, dayshift: 0630 - 1900 (3 x 12-hour shifts per week)
- Weekend and holiday rotation required
Responsibilities
- Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results.
- Performs all testing and operation of equipment as necessary to deliver quality results.
- Trains new laboratory personnel in methods, procedures, and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
- Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
- Assesses technical and/or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluates possible solutions, and chooses an appropriate course of action to solve the problem.
- Reports and maintains records of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turnaround times for routine testing and stats.
- Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems. Handles specific quality functions in an organized and timely fashion.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical/Life Science or related field
- ASCP, AMT, AAB, or equivalent certification (required or eligible)
- Strong generalist laboratory skills and commitment to quality patient care
