Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

Hourly pay range: $30.46 - $45.69. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

About the role

Position is located at Evanston Hospital. Full-time role with hours Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm, every other weekend, and rotating holidays.

Responsibilities

• Performs various clinical microbiology tests in one or more sections of the laboratory to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Ensures the accuracy and precision of diagnostic results through performance of maintenance and calibration of multiplex instrumentation systems.
• Routinely resolves technical and interdepartmental problems related to the various laboratory areas.
• Readily identifies problems that may adversely affect performance or reporting of results and takes corrective action or notifies supervising personnel when appropriate.
• Demonstrates ability to work cooperatively with others, exhibiting good communication and organizational skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a laboratory science or medical technology and/or the required courses to meet CLIA requirements for moderate to high complexity testing.
• MT or MLS (ASCP) certification preferred.
• Experience preferred.

• Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel to assist with taking corrective action.
