Responsibilities
- Performs all aspects of pre-analytic workflow to ensure correct specimen collection and processing.
- Verifies order accuracy and specimen appropriateness, and troubleshoots as needed.
- Collects, receives, and processes specimens according to protocols.
- Performs analytical testing following established protocols and SOPs.
- Maintains test system integrity by performing preventive maintenance and quality control.
- Stores and retrieves specimens according to protocols.
- Reviews and interprets test results, and follows established notification protocols for critical values.
- Troubleshoots and solves problems related to test systems.
- Generates and amends reports, and responds to inquiries according to established protocols.
- Ensures quality of operations by following SOPs and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Provides service excellence by answering telephones and assisting patients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Allied Health.
- MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
- Certification or eligibility for ASCP certification if hired after 1/19/2025.
