Responsibilities

  • Performs all aspects of pre-analytic workflow to ensure correct specimen collection and processing.
  • Verifies order accuracy and specimen appropriateness, and troubleshoots as needed.
  • Collects, receives, and processes specimens according to protocols.
  • Performs analytical testing following established protocols and SOPs.
  • Maintains test system integrity by performing preventive maintenance and quality control.
  • Stores and retrieves specimens according to protocols.
  • Reviews and interprets test results, and follows established notification protocols for critical values.
  • Troubleshoots and solves problems related to test systems.
  • Generates and amends reports, and responds to inquiries according to established protocols.
  • Ensures quality of operations by following SOPs and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Provides service excellence by answering telephones and assisting patients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Allied Health.
  • MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
  • Certification or eligibility for ASCP certification if hired after 1/19/2025.
