Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician

About the Role

Perform tests on blood and body fluids to determine the presence or absence of disease, monitor response to treatment, and aid in health maintenance. Serve as a technical resource for lesser credentialed staff and assist in training new or lesser credentialed staff. Troubleshoot and address instrument issues, recognize the need for service, and use critical thinking and clinical knowledge to assess questionable results and correlate with clinical information to determine accuracy.

• Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36
• Shift: Night (5:00 PM – 5:30 AM)

Requirements

Medical Laboratory Scientist

• Education:
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree (must be obtained within 90 days) OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND Grandfathered status under CLIA Regulations
  • Preferred: Completion of a medical technology program
• Certification: Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist from AMT, ASCP, or ASCPi

Medical Laboratory Technician

• Education:
  • Required: Associate’s Degree OR completion of an accredited MLT Program
• Experience: Preferred: 1 year in a laboratory
• Certification: Certified as a Medical Lab Technician from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agency or eligible to sit for exam at time of hire (must obtain certification within 90 days of hire)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management
• Clear verbal and written communication
• Excellent time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills
• Knowledge of current information technology and ability to lead project teams for large, complex automation projects
• Proficient in all Microsoft programs; high-level proficiency in Excel
