Medical Laboratory Scientist @ Magnolia Emergency Care Center - PRN

About the role

This PRN position works every other weekend from 2:00pm-10:30pm at the Magnolia Emergency Care Center at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Performs both routine and complex analyses using laboratory techniques, principles, and equipment
• Uses critical thinking skills to deal with issue resolution concerning the day-to-day technical operation of the laboratory
• Ensures specimens are accessioned and processed expeditiously to deliver quality laboratory results in an effective and cost-efficient manner

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree
• Experience: One year of work or training experience in a hospital laboratory preferred

• Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job
• Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers
• Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities and organizes heavy workflow with minimal supervision
• Demonstrates independent judgment and discretion to recognize problems, identify causes, and take corrective action
• Operates multiple computer systems to maintain patient and testing records and other related documents
• Works independently with little or no direct supervision
