Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of testing and troubleshoot applicable instruments/procedures.
  • Support the department in quality control, troubleshooting, customer support, instrument/equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects.
  • Report on assigned analytical tests in accordance with SOPs, ensuring quality control requirements are met.
  • Support and comply with laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record keeping.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition.
  • Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
  • Assist supervisor with training of other laboratory personnel.
  • Inform supervisory personnel of all problems related to test procedures and cooperate with investigations.
  • Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for standardized reports.
  • Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
  • Use personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and practice controls as directed.
  • Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel.
  • Participate in government/regulatory agency inspections.
  • Assume lead responsibilities if qualified and delegated.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology, or qualify as a Technologist under 42 CFR493.1489.
  • 1 year laboratory experience and/or training in high complexity testing.
  • Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods, lift/carry objects up to 25 pounds, frequent walking/standing, and use manual/digital instruments.
  • Detail-oriented, able to work independently, establish priorities, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to deal with clients and handle confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems.
  • Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
