About the role

This position provides services of both a technical and non-technical nature in the laboratory service areas. It involves performing routine and complex laboratory tests, ensuring proper functioning of laboratory equipment, and maintaining quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Performs waived, moderate, and/or highly complex analytic processes without direct supervision.
  • Operates, calibrates, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments.
  • Recognizes when professional service is required and requests service if instrument is covered under a service contract.
  • Follows specimen collection, handling, transport, and recording procedures.
  • Processes data, verifies accuracy, and enters data in the laboratory information system.
  • Maintains QC records and documentation necessary to meet the standards of accrediting agencies.
  • Assists with workload in any section where competency has been verified and is current.
  • Evaluates potential causes of unexpected test results and correlates clinical and laboratory data with pathologic states.
  • Trains new and current employees on procedures and policies.
  • Communicates with others, provides technical information, and performs assessments of peers.

Requirements

  • Education: Evaluation of education and credentials, including completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology and successful completion of a clinical rotation in the area of job duties.
  • Certification: Minimum pay rate of $25.41/hr, with a requirement to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
  • PPE: Ability to work in a biohazard laboratory environment requiring use of personal protective equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Two years of experience not including NY testing.
  • Physical Requirements: Stooping, reaching, mobility, communication, and vision requirements.

Skills

Technical skills in performing laboratory tests, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment. Communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to prioritize and coordinate work flow.

Schedule

7-On/7-Off B week, 8:30 PM - 7:00 AM training schedule, Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
