Medical Laboratory Scientist - Flow Cytometry Mon - Fri 12pm-8:30pm (ORMC)

Position Summary

The Medical Laboratory Scientist analyzes blood and body fluids using both automated and complex manual methods following established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results within established timeframes. Schedule: Monday-Friday 12pm-8:30pm This would be working solely in Flow Cytometry at ORMC.

About the Role

This position requires a bachelor’s or associate’s degree and successful completion of a clinical laboratory training internship. National certification such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies routine results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability using prescribed guidelines.
• Performs, evaluates, and documents all quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Receives guidance and direction from more experienced team members or leader.
• Demonstrates computer system proficiency including ordering, resulting, and inquiry functions.
• Safeguards proper utilization and preparation of reagents and supplies.
• Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.
• Reports all unusual findings to the immediate supervisor.
• Reports work activities and pending work to the oncoming technologist.
• Responds to work related technical inquiries as needed.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Maintains current Florida license as a Medical Technologist in the specialty or specialties required by the laboratory section(s) assigned.
• Successful completion of clinical laboratory training internship.
• National Certification such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT preferred.
