Medical Laboratory Scientist, Float - FT

About the role

We are seeking employees with at least 2 years of bench tech experience to float to labs in various locations within and around the Sioux Falls metro area. Depending on the site’s needs, the hours of coverage may vary.

Responsibilities

  • Collect laboratory specimens, as needed.
  • Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position.
  • Demonstrate critical and independent judgement in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Seek personal learning opportunities.
  • Recognize safety hazards and comply with all safety practices and protocols.
  • Aid in training new staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
  • Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, such as American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) is also acceptable.
  • If registry eligible, must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
  • Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.

$29.50 - $44 per hour
