Medical Laboratory Scientist - Blood Bank

Under minimal supervision, independently perform and report all test analyses according to physician orders in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures, FDA, CAP, AABB, OSHA, CLIA, and JCAHO regulations to facilitate optimum quality patient care. Tests are used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and include specimen processing, test performance, and maintaining test results. Some procedures are complex and require professional judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and report test analyses according to physician orders.
  • Adhere to laboratory policies and procedures, as well as FDA, CAP, AABB, OSHA, CLIA, and JCAHO regulations.
  • Process specimens, perform tests, and maintain test results for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Exercise professional judgment in complex procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • Proof of eligibility for the ASCP, ASCPi, AMT, or equivalent board certification exam upon hire.
  • Must be Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist certified within 18 months of hire.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical lab experience preferred.
