Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the role

WK Pierremont Lab is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform a full range of simple-to-complex patient testing and laboratory services, specializing in Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Serology, Chemistry, Point of Care Testing, Transfusion Medicine, and Microbiology.

Responsibilities

• Performing laboratory procedures, recognizing deviations from expected results by ensuring sample suitability and accuracy.
• Resolving inconsistencies and correcting problems using scientific principles.
• Maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Ensuring quality control and functionality of instruments.
• Preparing the laboratory for inspection by regulatory agencies.
• Monitoring, maintaining, ordering, and stocking laboratory supplies.
• Providing customer service to answer questions from patient providers regarding test processes, patient results, or sample collection techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or related field.
• One (1) year of clinical laboratory experience.
• A valid Louisiana State License in Clinical Laboratory Science.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathology) or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-on-one training program within the first 3 to 4 months of hire.
• Annual continuing education provided by Willis-Knighton and instrument vendors, free of charge.

Pay

Commensurate with experience.

Schedule

6AM - 4:30PM, 7on/7off, Monday - Sunday.
