About the role

Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing samples are tested similarly to patient specimens.

Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and review and release test results.

Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.

Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all activities, and maintain records of maintenance and calibrations.

Identify and address issues affecting test performance or reporting, and document corrective actions.

Report STAT or critical results to clients and answer questions from customers or other lab personnel.

Maintain complete records of all testing performed and ensure the department's appearance is maintained.

Manage reagents/test kits, review and train on new procedures, and attend departmental and educational meetings.

Participate in safety training sessions and follow government or regulatory agency inspections.

Qualifications

  • BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493. 1433 published in March 14, 1990
  • Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation)
  • United States educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript
  • National certification as an MT / MLT from a recognized organization (ASCP or AMT)
  • 1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology
  • National and State licensure as required
  • A solid understanding of basic laboratory testing is required
  • Good computer skills and ability to adapt to multiple computer systems
  • Knowledge of QC and QA, and all areas of the laboratory
  • The ability to establish work priorities and handle simultaneous procedures
  • Good customer service skills
  • Confidentiality of patient information
  • Chemistry experience preferred
  • Experience with Sunquest, DI as an LIS system, general lab with vitro analyzers, Siemens and XN sysmex, and blood bank
