Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Scientist position at UNC Health offers opportunities across various labs in different locations, including UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill and Hillsborough, UNC Health Rex in Raleigh and Holly Springs, UNC Health Johnston in Smithfield, UNC Health Rockingham in Eden, UNC Health Chatham in Siler City, and UNC Health Caldwell in Lenoir.

Responsibilities

• Conducting tests and analyzing specimens to diagnose diseases and disorders.
• Interpreting test results and communicating findings to healthcare providers.
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation of patient information.
• Ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulations.

Requirements

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science, or a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Biological Science, or an Associate's Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Licensure/Certification Requirements vary based on educational background and experience.
• Medical Lab Scientist II: Two (2) years of experience required.
• Medical Lab Scientist III: Four (4) years of experience required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory equipment.

Skills

• Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation and techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.

Pay

$26.59 - $41.09 per hour (Hiring Range).
