About the role
The role involves performing laboratory tests on patient specimens, generating test results within quality control standards, maintaining records, instructing staff, and participating in research and development activities. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related sciences, one year of relevant experience, and certification from ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Performs laboratory tests on patient specimens
- Generates test results within quality control standards
- Maintains records of performance
- Instructs students and staff on laboratory procedures and techniques
- Develops and modifies procedures as needed
- Assumes additional responsibilities as outlined by management or the laboratory director
- May participate in research and development activities
- Acts as a key resource person for staff inside and outside of the department
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related sciences
- One year of relevant experience
- Certification or eligibility for board certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent
Qualifications
- Knowledge of various complex and lengthy laboratory techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of specialized testing equipment and routine maintenance procedures
- Ability to maintain quality control and other records
- Ability to use computer to enter and retrieve test results
- Analytical skills to make quantitative and qualitative observations
- Ability to work independently and handle constant interruptions and concurrent tasks
- Knowledge of all laboratory safety regulations and protocols
