About the role
The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform and report a wide range of analytical procedures on patient specimens, ensuring accurate and timely results vital for patient diagnosis and treatment. Key responsibilities include executing complex tests, maintaining equipment, and providing clinical correlation and quality control.
Responsibilities
- Execute complex laboratory tests on patient specimens, adhering to SOPs for accurate and timely reporting.
- Provide clinical correlation of results, identify patterns of bias, and notify caregivers of critical values promptly.
- Maintain and troubleshoot major automated equipment, including contacting vendors for repairs.
- Perform calibration and quality control procedures, maintaining records to ensure tests are within established parameters.
- Participate in proficiency testing and document validation of new procedures and equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biological or Chemical Sciences as defined by CLIA.
- Experience as a Clinical Lab Scientist in Nevada or General Supervisor in Nevada.
- Appropriate training in clinical laboratory science as evaluated by the Director of the Clinical Laboratory.

Skills
- Proficiency in various lab disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.)
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to maintain equipment and troubleshoot issues independently.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and proficiency in proficiency testing.
