About the role
The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform and report a wide range of analytical procedures on patient specimens, ensuring accurate and timely results vital for patient diagnosis and treatment. Key responsibilities include executing complex tests, maintaining equipment, and providing clinical correlation of results.Responsibilities
- Execute complex laboratory tests on patient specimens, adhering to SOPs for accurate and timely reporting.
- Provide excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of critical values, and meeting turnaround time limits.
- Maintain operational status of major automated equipment by performing required maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures, including contacting vendors for assistance or repairs.
- Perform calibration and quality control procedures, maintaining records to ensure tests are performed within established parameters.
- Participate in proficiency testing and review results with laboratory clinical leaders.
- Assist in the validation of new procedures and equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in medical technology or related science from an accredited school.
- Certified as MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), or equivalent.
- One year previous microbiology and blood bank experience required.
- Ability to work independently demonstrated.
Preferred
- Two years of microbiology and blood bank experience.
